Dr. Berg is a board certified ophthalmologist and the only fellowship trained corneal surgeon in Southwest Georgia. Dr. Berg specializes in
Cataract, Cornea Transplant, and Refractive eye surgery.
A native Albanian, he joined his father's practice in 1984. Dr. Berg has developed one of the largest and most successful surgical practices in the state.
He has performed more than
15,000 cataract operations, providing patients with the safest and most effective surgical techniques available. He has over fifteen years experience in refractive eye surgery including radial keratotomy
(RK), astigmatic keratotomy (AK), and LASIK.
Dr. Berg is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Georgia Tech. He completed Medical School at the Medical College in Augusta with his
Ophthalmology training at Emory University. Dr. Berg then studied Corneal Transplant surgery as a fellow at Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, before returning to his father's practice in
Albany. During his Corneal Fellowship Dr. Berg received the resident teaching award for his contribution to the training of other eye surgeons. He continues to train other doctors.
Dr. Berg has been selected by his peers for "Who's Who among Physicians and Surgeons", has served as President of the Dougherty County Medial Society, and is on the Medical Advisory Board of
the Georgia Eye Bank. He served as Chief of Ophthalmology at Phoebe Putney for over 8 years and continues to serve in other leadership positions at the hospital. He has numerous professional
affiliations including, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, Castroviejo Corneal Society and Georgia Society of Ophthalmology.
Dr.
Berg stays busy with family, church and his practice. He is a devoted husband and father of three children - Lindsay, & Laura, both university students, and Patrick, who attends Deerfield-Windsor
School.
His free time is spent with lake activities, recreational hunting, regular exercise, computer science and family activities.
