Dr. Wesley Garland is a native of Albany, Georgia and returned to the area in July 2020 to join Berg Eye Group. He received his undergraduate degree in biology and religion from the University of Georgia. Dr. Garland received his medical degree from Mercer University. He then completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Prisma Health/University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina.
Dr. Garland is a board-certified ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon. He has special interests in referral and surgical ophthalmology, advanced intraocular lens technologies, and complex cataract surgery. He has numerous professional affiliations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, Georgia Society of Ophthalmology and the Christian Ophthalmology Society.
Dr. Garland is an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoys spending time outdoors. He is also skilled slalom skier and was a member of the UGA Waterski Team while in college. Dr. Garland enjoys spending time with his two young sons and wife Kelly, who is an occupational therapist.
